Founded in 1979, the Center for International Understanding is a public service program of The University of North Carolina.
Its vision is North Carolina is the most globally engaged state in the nation.
All of the Center for International Understanding’s work contributes to three conditions necessary to achieve this vision: globally engaged citizens, leaders who are ready to engage with the world, and thriving diverse communities.
Its programming provides:
* K-12 teachers with the skills, knowledge and resources needed to help their students become globally competent * school, business and policy leaders resources, experience and training to increase their global awareness and interaction with the world * policy, education and public service leaders resources and experience needed to guide their communities through demographic change
More than 8,000 North Carolinians have been to 48 different countries as part of the Center for International Understanding's leadership development programs.
